For our 10th anniversary, we’re serving 10s across the board, because excellence deserves to be scored accordingly!
A Decade of Pride: Tens Across the Board pays homage to queer ballroom culture. Ballroom has long been a vital safe haven created by and for Black and Brown queer and trans people. A place to survive, to shine, to find family, and to be celebrated in a world that too often denied all of the above.
More than glamour and competition, ballroom is resistance. It’s chosen family, radical self-expression, and a powerful force in the queer liberation movement. It challenges racism, transphobia, homophobia, and exclusion while centering joy, creativity, and community care.
Ten years of Wood Buffalo Pride means for the past ten years we have created inclusive and accepting spaces for every part of our community in the RMWB. This year, we honour that legacy!
To learn more about ballroom culture we recommend watching the documentary Paris is Burning and the TV show Pose!
